Don Churchill

Don Churchill is a career hotelier that after graduating college, first worked with Four Seasons hotels in Toronto, working his way up from a variety of line staff positions to junior management. After leaving Four Seasons to work in a more senior role for an independent hotel, he then moved on to management roles for Delta Hotels in locations throughout Canada. His role for Delta Holes included managing and improving distressed hotels on behalf of owners and financial institutions.

In 1994, Don relocated to Grand Bahama Island to continue his work for Delta Hotels, intending to stay for 6 months. The project lasted two years and Don decided to remain in Grand Bahama to continue his career in hospitality management. He then met Carmel, they married and decided to remain in Grand Bahama and build a business together.

During Don’s time on Grand Bahama, he was Chief Operating Officer for 8 years at Unexso and the Dolphin Experience, managed a vacation rental resort, and has been licensed as a real estate salesperson for nine years. Don has also been a consultant for the Caribbean Tourism Organization as a Hospitality Assured Advisor and worked on projects in Dominica and Grenada.

For the past three years, Don has been working with Carmel exclusively, to build their company DonCar Hospitality Management Services.


 

Carmel Churchill

Carmel Churchill is co-owner of Doncar Management, a management company specializing in destination sales and marketing services, including vacation rentals, attractions, hotels, hospitality consulting services, turn arounds for distressed businesses, hotel sales, and real estate.

Carmel served as the Director of Marketing Services for The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board from 2014 – 2018 and is now serving as the Marketing Consultant for the organization. During her time at the Board, she served as Chairperson of the Marketing Committee and has more than 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Carmel has a Master of Hospitality and Tourism degree as well as a number of management certifications from Howard University and James Madison University. Carmel was the third licensed female General Contractor for the Grand Bahama Port Authority and has used that title and experience to complete various construction projects for clients.

Carmel’s civic and community involvement includes her previously serving as Co-host of a local radio talk show – “Natural Resources”, past Secretary of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce 2013-2014, and as Director for two terms at the Grand Bahama Island Chamber of Commerce, Chairing the Public Relations Committee during her second term.

Carmel is married to Donald Churchill of Ontario Canada and they are the proud parents of one 26-year-old son, Kenroy Alexander.
